Wood Butcher Block

There is nothing quite like a butcher block island or bar top for the warm, natural beauty wood brings to your home. We partner with two woodworking companies, Green Mountain Woodworks and Windfall Lumber. From the heart of timber country in the Pacific Northwest, we bring you the finest sustainable hardwood surfaces.

All of Ecohome’s wood counters are listed with an Eco Status. FSC certified wood comes from forests managed to the strict standards of the Forest Stewardship Council- a third party non-profit organization that maintains sustainable forestry standards by evaluating the long term forest management plans of land owners for ecological and social health. Wood may also come from restoration projects designed to reduce wildfire danger and encourage wildlife habitat. Other sources are reclaimed timbers from demolished buildings, wood salvaged from the dump, trees downed by windfall or disease, and Northwest native species.

Available in Madrone, Myrtle, Big Leaf Maple, Eastern Maple, Reclaimed Douglas Fir, Orchard Walnut, Reclaimed Redwood, Eucalyptus, Alder, Birch, Salvaged African Hardwood Blend and Northwest Blend, there’s a species and a color to suit every taste and aesthetic. Play with edge grain, end grain and wide plank options as well as edge profiles and custom alternatives to create a countertop that’s unique to you.

Our butcher block counters can be ordered pre-fabricated, pre-finished and ready to install, or oversized and unfinished for you to save money and finish yourself. Finished with a natural, food grade oil, your counter can serve as a practical, extra large cutting board that can be brought to like-new luster with a simple, periodic oil reapplication. In splash-prone areas, seal it with a marine-grade oil for a zero maintenance finish.

With a classic, natural appeal that will never go out of style, you’ll be enjoying your butcher block for years to come.
